Who We Are

Yosemite Visitor’s Bureau, Coarsegold Resource Conservation District, Eastern Madera Fire Safe Council, and Yosemite Sequoia Resource Conservation and Development Council are proud partners of the Be Firewise program.

Be Firewise is a collaborative regional initiative to promote wildfire safety and prevention through concerted outreach and education efforts to all residents and visitors of Eastern Madera County. By working together, we can make the surrounding communities and public lands ready for the threat of wildfire.

Be Firewise seeks to educate visitors and tourists to Yosemite and Eastern Madera County on best practices for wildfire prevention. These initiatives also educate visitors on common and often overlooked causes of wildfire in the area through a fun series of educational videos featuring local mascots.

Be Firewise also wants to remind residents of the common causes of wildfire and how each one of us can specifically aid in prevention of wildfire by maintaining a homes 100’ defensible space. Resources may be available from local/state/federal groups that can aid in creating a Firewise home and community.
